Willie Billings, For the People.

March 8, 2022

On February 28, 2022 a group of St. George residents gathered together to hear Willie Billings give an address concerning our beloved southern Utah. The meeting was held in the home of local Republican and entrepreneur, Scott Nielson. Willie Billings is running for House District 72 and hopes to make changes to benefit the lives of everyone that he can.

Willie Billings

Willie Billings is a man that firmly believes in God, family, and America. Willie attended South Sevier High school in south central Utah. Throughout school he milked cows from 4:30 to 7:30 before school. He hauled hay, as well as installed fence around the farm. He and his wife live in Hurricane and have 5 children. They also have recently added 5 grand children. Willie has owned his own business for over 30 years, helping families with their finances. Willie has unchanging beliefs in the constitution and believes that the 1st and 2nd amendments are non negotiable. Willie states ” I will not default to increase taxes. I will find a solution by identifying waste, cut spending, and reallocate funds differently to solve problems.”

Willie began his address by talking about his past. He gave a background about himself and his family, addressing his roots, implanting his work ethic in the audience’s mind. He then focused on the word ” apathy”. Apathy is a lack of interest, enthusiasm, or concern. He stated that ” The attitude of apathy is exactly why our country is where it is today.” Apathy creates a lack luster environment and ruins communities. ” Every person must be active in recruiting and getting good people elected, or you are apart of the problem.” Willies approach to addressing the crowd was bold and stern yet relatable and heartfelt. He explained many beliefs based on facts and information. He focused on serving the people, not an agenda. “We need to remove emotions and find solutions. I am a problem solver. ”

While talking about his competition Brad Last he stated ” Brad has been my friend for over 30 years, we even live a couple blocks away. He is a great man, a great father, and even a great husband, but his decisions politically have not been aligned with the people.” A politician should always put the people first. One of Willies main driving forces is to eliminate bad laws. ” Some laws should never even exist.” Willie believes firmly in freedom and the right to have your own beliefs. He explained that he is not against hearing anyone else’s opinions as long as they are factual and backed by information.

The event was a success and brought individuals to hear the heartfelt desire of Billing to “get involved”. In closing Willie asked for everyone to go do their part and get involved in telling their friends about voting and becoming educated themselves on who is running and for what reasons. He offered his own personal time and resources to help address any concerns or confusion with issues he had talked about or anything regarding his campaign. Willie finished his address saying that he was running for the people. Not for personal gain. “The people need to be heard and I will do everything in my power to make it that way. ”
